Suggested Reading

Part of smart business education is to continue reading regularly, advancing your business knowledge just like you do with your clinical knowledge. This month we recommend reading "From Good To Great". Find out how and why some companies are able to make the leap from being a good company to being a great company. What type of leadership, focus and discipline they exhibit that others don't. The principles can be adapted to the veterinary practice. You'll quickly see what would hold you back, and what you have to over come to be a Great Practice.

Alternative Entrance and Exit Strategies

Recently, Dr. Byron Farquer lectured at the annual AAHA convention held in Denver, Colorado. One of the lectures outlined a series of case study conclusions on alternative strategies for entering and exiting practice ownership. The powerpoint slides are available at www.avpmca.org.

Resource CD Update 3.0

SmartStart Practice released version 3.0 of its resource CD. Third in the series, this CD contains more forms, planners, articles, and how-to related subjects. Previously some areas were not populated with information, but all folders have useful data as of this release. "The building and rebuilding of this CD is an on-going process, and by design will be updated periodically" says co-founder Byron Farquer, DVM "The goal is to continue to develop more useful tools and enrichen the content" he said in a brief phone interview.

What Grads Are Saying...
“I am incredibly impressed with SmartStart BASIC and ADVANCED. After a decade of practice ownership I am embarrassed to admit how much I did not know about running a successful practice. I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without SmartStart.”
